A German university has developed a new technology which provides a predictive epigenetic parameter for the diagnosis or prognosis of gliomas and may be useful to predict the responsiveness to certain therapies. It further describes an improved method for the determination of the promoter methylation and provides an opportunity for the development of therapeutics for secondary glioblastomas.

They offer a research collaboration with licensing option to innovative biotech/ pharma companies.

A London university have developed a micro-scale technology which can be used to improve the mixing of cohesive & non-cohesive pharmaceutical powders in large scale production processes. The chip has excellent potential as a powder mixing device and could be used in the manufacture of tablets, capsules and other products. The University are looking to licence the technology to partners in the pharmaceutical industry and other sectors where effective mixing of powders is required.

Cell penetrable poly-peptoids for topical drug delivery

Researchers in the University of Southampton (UK) have applied for patent protection for a class of cell penetrable polypeptide (poly-pseudo-lysine, PPL) which can act as a carrier for enabling cutaneous penetration of drugs. Such findings open the way to a new form of therapeutic treatment relying on PPL as a carrier for delivering therapeutic agents into skin. Commercial partners are sought for further testing with existing or novel therapeutics.

Novel peptide nucleic acid (PNA) probes for the rapid identification of pathogens

A Portuguese University has developed the application of novel peptide nucleic acid (PNA) probes as a high-tech molecular biology method to provide definitive results in less than 5 hours by fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH). The methods have been developed for the detection of Salmonella spp., Staphylococcus epidermidis, Enterobacter sakazakii and Helicobacter pylori and can be easily adapted to other.
